Kishori Sammelan: Promoting Health, Safety, and Informed Decisions
A Kishori Sammelan was organized by the "Aao Batein Karein" Team, with support from the HCL Foundation, to strengthen awareness, confidence, and informed decision-making among adolescent girls from the intervention slum communities.
The Sammelan addressed a wide range of critical adolescent health and rights–based themes, including adolescent nutrition, prevention of child marriage and its legal consequences, risks associated with adolescent pregnancy, family planning, sexually transmitted and reproductive tract infections (STIs/RTIs), including HIV/AIDS, provisions of the POCSO Act, responsible mobile phone use, mental health, and menstrual hygiene management.
The sessions were delivered through an engaging blend of audio-visual tools, participatory games, and interactive discussions, creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encouraged open participation and dialogue.
The programme concluded with a lively Challa game used as a recap exercise, effectively reinforcing key messages and empowering participants with practical knowledge, awareness, and essential life skills to make healthy, safe, and informed life choices.
